Questions people ask
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very fine, far finer than the needles used for injections. Many people feel little as they are placed; some notice a brief pinch, or a dull, heavy or warm sensation.
You can speak up at any point, and your treatment will be adjusted.
Does acupuncture replace care from my doctor?
No. Acupuncture works alongside the care you receive from your doctor and other practitioners, never instead of it. Keep taking any medication as prescribed unless your doctor advises otherwise.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you: what brings you in, how long you have been experiencing it and how you respond. After your first visit, we'll talk through what we suggest, and you decide what feels right.
What happens at a first visit?
Your first visit is longer. It begins with a conversation about what brings you in, your health and how you live, followed by your first treatment.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided practice of deep rest. You lie comfortably while a voice guides your attention through the body and breath. There is nothing to do and nothing to get right.
What is Cupping?
Cupping uses gentle suction, with glass or silicone cups, to lift the skin and the tissue beneath it. It can leave round marks that usually fade within days.
What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is a traditional technique in which a smooth-edged stone is drawn slowly along oiled skin. It can leave temporary redness.
Care at Lavender Meridian is individual, and works alongside the care you receive from your doctor, never instead of it.
